Salmon cooks best at a gentle 150–175°C for 15–20 minutes depending on the thickness of the fillet, which keeps the flesh juicy instead of drying out. On the pan, cook salmon skin-side down until the skin is crisp, and only flip it right at the end.
Popular combinations include salmon with a creamy sauce, oven-baked salmon with roasted root vegetables, and salmon soup, usually made with potato and leek. You can tell salmon is done when the flesh starts to flake gently under a fork but is still slightly translucent in the middle.
Salmon can be swapped for other oily fish, such as rainbow trout, if you want variety or a cheaper option – the cooking time stays about the same. Lemon and fresh herbs like dill suit salmon naturally without needing a heavy sauce.
In Ruokaboksi's salmon recipes the fish and sides are delivered pre-weighed, so a fish dinner comes together on a weekday without extra planning or waste.
