Potatoes:: 1 kg potatoes; 0.5 tspsalt; 3 tbspbutter
Stroganoff:: 1 onion; 2 garlic clove; 2 pkgpickles; 1 pkghigh-meat-content sausages; 1 tbspoil; 1 tbspbutter; 1 tspsalt; 0.5 tspblack pepper; 1 pkgdried herbs; 2 pkgmustard; 1 pkgtomato purée; 1 tbsp flour (optional); 4 dlwater; 1 pkgsour cream

If you enjoy creamier and milder flavors, stir a bit of sour cream directly into the meat mixture.

Pour 2–2.5 liters of water into a large pot and bring it to a boil. Peel the potatoes, rinse them, and cut them into smaller pieces. Salt the water, add the potatoes, and cook on low heat until tender.

Peel and finely chop the onion and garlic. Slice the sausages into rounds.

Heat a tablespoon of oil and a tablespoon of butter in a pan over medium heat. Add the sliced sausages and onion, and sauté for approximately 4–5 minutes, stirring occasionally. Season with salt, pepper, and dried herbs.

Add mustard, tomato paste, and optionally a tablespoon of flour. Mix the ingredients well and cook on medium heat for about 2 minutes.

Gradually pour in 3–4 dl of water while stirring constantly. Add the pickles, bring the mixture to a boil, and then let it gently simmer for about 6–8 minutes.

Drain the cooked potatoes and mash them with a fork or potato masher. Add 2–3 tablespoons of butter and a pinch of salt to taste.

Serve the Stroganoff with a portion of mashed potatoes and top with a dollop of sour cream.
