Mashed potatoes:: 1 kg potatoes; 0.5 tspsalt; 3 tbspbutter
Stroganoff: 1 onion; 2 garlic clove; 1 pkgpickles; 1 tbspoil; 1 tbspbutter; 1 pkgground beef; 1 tspsalt; 0.5 tspblack pepper; 1 pkgdried thyme; 1 pkgmustard; 1 pkgtomato purée; 1 tbsp flour (optional); 5 dlwater; 1 pkgsour cream

Tips

If you prefer creamier and milder flavors, stir a bit of sour cream directly into the meat mixture.

Pour 2–3 liters of water into a pot and bring it to a boil.

Peel and chop the potatoes, then add them to the boiling water. Salt and cook until they soften.

Peel and finely chop the onion and garlic.

Heat a pan with oil and butter. Add the ground meat and sauté, stirring constantly for 3–4 minutes.

Add the onion, garlic, and season with salt, black pepper, and dried thyme. Continue sautéing for another 3-4 minutes.

Add mustard, tomato paste, and a tablespoon of flour (if desired) to the pan. Sauté briefly while stirring.

Gradually add water to the pan while stirring. Add the pickles to the sauce. Bring it to a boil and cook for about 5–8 minutes.

Drain the potatoes and mash them well. Stir in the butter and season with salt if needed.

Serve the stroganoff with mashed potatoes and sour cream.
